HOWEVER, as any metal detecting hobbyist know, there are a lot of crap metal detectors out there in the market that look good in paper and presentation, BUT suck BIG time when it comes to delivery. YES, that includes even those that are created by well known metal detector manufacturers like Bounty Hunter.
So, does Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector live up to the hype and deliver? Or is it like many of the rubbish that you will find hidden under the ground?
Let's see:
Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector - My Review
You see, I grew up with my father's Whites Di Pro 6000. With that in mind, I know how to operate an advanced and more expensive metal detector. HOWEVER, just recently, I was planning a trip to the beach and I was looking for a cheap detector. After taking a look at the offerings of names like Bounty Hunter, Garrett, and others, I decided to pick the Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector.
After all, I don't want to spend 700 to 1000 dollars just to have fun finding niceties in the beach. The Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector sold for $99 back at Walmart.
My Conclusion?
It's a good metal detector especially when you consider the price! Just after trying it out at my backyard when i bought it, I was able to find 10 silver coins as well as a golden ring! It felt like treasure is everywhere I go thanks to the Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector.
So far, the best find I've got is a sterling silver crucifix coupled with a silver chain I found in a beach last summer. Just 2 days ago, I also found 92 cents clad in Delaware on the beach as well as on the park within a couple of hours of metal detecting. Some of the valuable coins I have found were 3 to 4 inches deep.
What I really like about the detector is that it's very simple to use! The discrimination, the depth, and everything else - not to mention it works very well no matter where you are (wet or dry sand). Many of the CHEAP metal detectors out there go gaga when you use them on salty sand. Operating the Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector is so simple there's no way you can screw things up!
There are a couple of minor downsides however - (a) it's hard to pinpoint with the Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector (B) it doesn't come along with a head phone jack. These problems can be easily remedied, however, with a couple of days practice.
In conclusion: I'm giving the Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX Metal Detector 2 thumbs up. With this extremely affordable metal detector, you can find a lot of treasure. I won't be surprised if your finds pay for this unit within a couple of weeks!
That's something you can't do with $800 to $1000 metal detectors!
